I suppose I’m blogging once a semester now?
I promise that was never my intention when I first started this blog, but that feels like a lifetime ago. If you must know, I’ve been quite busy binge watching Parenthood on Netflix… but in all seriousness, since I last blogged, there have been five huge changes to my life:
- Got a paid internship at the local hospital
- Moved to one-bedroom apartment
- Semester from hell ended
- Fellowship offer at Mayo Clinic!!!!
- Beginning of spring semester
It’s been a crazy blur, but an amazing one. In the meantime, I’ve continued to try to simplify my life. For some inspiration, I love to read blogs about minimalism, frugality, debt-payoff, and travel. I could blog about it for ages, but in short it’s just about setting up realistic goals and systems that make life easier so I have more time and money to do the things that make me happy.
Lastly, I wanted to touch on 5 of my goals that suffered a bit in 2016. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; writing them down makes me more accountable. Here are my five (revised) goals for 2017:
Yoga stretches daily in front of TV after work/class, increase each biweekly run by .25 miles in preparation for 5k on January 22nd, take at least one spin/yoga/Zumba class per week
Repay total balance of credit card monthly & therefore continue to improve credit score
Rebuild emergency/travel fund with $50 per month & fund retirement with $50 per month
Read one fun book per month
Keep list of things to replace when finished, use lip products daily to use them up quicker, 24 hour minimum wait period before buying something & above all, buy less shit in general
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. I’m planning some changes to the blog coming soon. Good luck this semester!
